Ask anyone what they miss most about India, and you’ll hear: the food.

Not just big curries — but the little things.

We missed all of it. So in July 2023, we started cooking.

In July 2023, we started small — cooking tiffins in our home kitchen, just to help a few students and friends who, like us, missed the flavours of India. We weren’t planning a business. We were just sharing food we loved.

But something beautiful happened.
People didn’t just eat our food — they connected with it.
They told us it reminded them of home. Some said it was their first proper meal in days. Others came back not just for the food, but for the feeling it gave them.

Our little tiffin service became something more — a community, built around warmth, flavour, and a shared love for real Indian food.

So, with hearts full of courage (and a recipe book full of chaats), we took the next step.

That love and support inspired us to open OM Food & Paan House on 12th December 2024 — an Indian vegetarian food van in Launceston that brings the real taste of Indian street food to Tasmania. From crispy Dosa to tangy Chaats, buttery Parathas, and our signature freshly made Paan (yes, we’re the first to serve paan in Tasmania) — every item on our menu is made with purpose and pride.

Our goal is simple:
Show locals and visitors that Indian food is full of variety, colour, and stories — beyond just curry.
And for those who miss home — we hope every bite takes you there.

Our Vision

To recreate the feeling of home — not just for us, but for every Indian soul in Tasmania who misses the taste of their roots, and every local who’s never had the chance to fall in love with the real flavours of India.

We’re here so that a plate of Dosa can feel like a memory.

So that a spoon of Chaat can spark joy.

So that a bite of Paan can bring back a whole street full of stories.

To bring Tasmania its first true taste of Indian street food — the kind we grew up eating, the kind that never made it onto restaurant menus, but lives in every Indian heart.
We want locals to fall in love with the flavours we’ve always known — and for Indians in Tasmania to feel, for a moment, like they never left home.

Our Mission

To serve more than food — to serve emotion.

To let the world know that Indian food isn’t just curry — it’s a hundred flavours, from a hundred streets.

To be Tasmania’s home of real Indian street food — loud, colourful, 100% vegetarian, and full of variety.

To serve not just what’s on the menu, but what’s in our memory.

And to always say with pride:
Indian Food Goes Beyond Curries. Taste the Variety.
